Barry, the elderly lion with a cute sleeping face and tongue out, at Tobe Zoo


 

Barry is a unique lion. Born on July 30, 2007, he is now 18 years old (old for a lion). Barry is a legendary lion at Tobe Zoo, having lived with many female lions, including Garnet, Daisy, Sakura, Lilihana, and Lily. In fact, he also spent time with Kantaro at one point. His younger sister Lily, with whom he had grown close, passed away on November 25, 2024, and Barry is now living alone.

Barry was sleeping comfortably with his tongue out. He was also seen gazing sleepily at us. He had moved around several times to change his nap spot. Although he is an elderly lion, he still has a sure gait. When we noticed, Barry was having a nosebleed for some reason.
